For three evenings Sõprus cinema will rise under the Harjumäe greenery and the dark starry sky of August. We will be screening three films that will make a brief introduction into our plans for the upcoming autumn season while screening films in a place we have never done so before.
We will start our journey to the top of Harjumägi by screening a film by the ingenious Chilean mystic Alejandro Jodorowsky “The Holy Mountain” (1973) on the evening of August 21st. Hopefully this will be a beautiful beginning for a trip showing all of us that there is a possibility to see light at the end of every tunnel.
On August 22nd we will join forces with the Black Nights Film Festival celebrating their 30th birthday this upcoming November. We have selected a film from their historical programme vault that will hopefully help to show how humanly funny Nordic people can be with Bent Hamer’s film “Kitchen Stories” (2003).
We will end our mountainous adventure with Robert Zemeckis’ “Forrest Gump” (1994) in celebration of all the iron men and women that have been sweating on the streets of Tallinn while taking part of the Ironman competition at the same weekend and now feel like just eating a box full of chocolates and watching a very good film. This is certainly one of the greatest feel-good–movies of all time and we hope that it will give our audience a very nice start for the autumn cinema season.
All the screenings will start at 21:30. All films will be screened in their original language with Estonian and English subtitles. All the screenings will start with a short introduction.
