FILMI „VÕÕRKEEL“ (Langue étrangère) SEANSS KOOLIÕPILASTELE (Langue Étrangère)
On the occasion of Franco-German Day, the Institut français d’Estonie and the Goethe-Institut invite to a special screening (free of charge) of the film Foreign Language, taking place on Friday, 23 January at 2:00 PM at Cinema Sõprus.
How do we grow up in today’s Europe? How do encounters and cultural exchanges help us become adults? How do young people find their place and assert themselves today?
Through Foreign Language, director Claire Burger invites us to share the experience of Fanny, a 17-year-old French high school student who travels to Germany as part of a language exchange. In Leipzig, she meets her exchange partner Lena, the same age as her and deeply committed to political activism. In an attempt to impress Lena, Fanny—naturally shy and withdrawn—invents a different life for herself, but soon finds herself trapped in her own lies.
Free screening, reservation required on Kino Sõprus webpage.
From Grade 9 upwards
Duration: approximately 2 hours
Languages: French–German–English, with English subtitles
