Holy Light (Lumina)
Holy Light (Lumina)
On Easter, 10-year-old Mircea and his father travel from a small Romanian mountain village to the city to bring back the Holy Fire, which is flown in from thousands of kilometres away every year. On the way back, Mircea loses sight of his father and tries to find his way back alone in the dark, while protecting the flame that must reach the village church before Easter midnight. The latest film by director Marian Crisan, who won the Short Film Palme d’Or the Cannes Film Festival, addresses major questions about faith and religion in a language that is understandable to young audiences, drawing on the outstanding performance of young actor Andrei Voicu.
