The students of University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy have once again proven that their desire to make films has not faded. The result is “3filmiviljandist”, a short film anthology featuring the very first films created by the 14th class of visual technology students in the Performing Arts programme at UT Viljandi Culture Academy.

The selection opens three distinct cinematic worlds to its audience:
Deili Post’s “Valge tühermaa”, “Nico” by Jaagup Maidla and Sten Hendrik Killak, “Koduteel” by Jaagup Kurm and Robin Valge.

“Valge tühermaa” takes viewers to a snowy field where a body awakens with no memory at all. It is a sci-fi journey across the boundaries of identity and memory, leaving one haunting question in the air: how do you break a cycle you are not even aware of?

“Nico” is the first short thriller made in Viljandi. Alongside acting students from the 16th class of Viljandi Culture Academy, the film also features Mihkel Kuusk, known for his leading role in “Rolling papers”.

Balancing the sci-fi and thriller elements is the short drama “Koduteel”, which explores human relationships through the eyes of a young man. Madis’ attempts to escape his past fall apart when he reunites with his childhood friend Meeri, who remembers the past and demands answers from him.

“3filmiviljandist” continues the student film anthology series launched last year with “5filmiviljandist", a film collection created by directing and choreography students from the 15th class of UT Viljandi Culture Academy.
