Nightborn (Yönlapsi)
Saga (Seidi Haarla) and John (Rupert Grint) move to a country house in the middle of the Finnish forests to provide their future child with a nature-rich environment to grow up in. Soon, their long-awaited son is born, but coping with a newborn proves to be a major challenge for the couple. At times, it seems that only the mother understands what the baby needs.
This is a darkly funny and creepy story that delves deep into the hidden emotions of motherhood. Nature and the forest play an important role in the film, creating a distinctive, tense atmosphere, while references point towards Finnish folklore. HÕFF (The Haapsalu Horror and Fantasy Film Festival), where the film had it's Estonian premiere in the spring, describes it as the new wave of Finnish folk horror.
The film was directed by Hanna Bergholm and stars Seidi Haarla, known from Compartment No. 6, and Rupert Grint, aka Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter films.
The film had its world premiere in the competition programme of the Berlin Film Festival.
