This year, KOOLIFILM welcomes a new international partner from Ukraine: Kids Movie Fest (www.kidsmoviefest.com.ua), a children’s and youth film festival founded in Kyiv in 2016 by Ukrainian documentary filmmaker Svitlana Pohasiy (https://svitlanapohasiy.co.uk/).

Kids Movie Fest works in Ukraine with children and teenagers, creating opportunities for them to learn filmmaking, tell their own stories and see their films on the big screen. Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the festival has continued its work through film workshops, international exchanges and filmmaking projects for young Ukrainians living both in Ukraine and abroad.

At KOOLIFILM 2026, Kids Movie Fest presents “One Day of My Life”, a programme of short documentaries by Ukrainian teenagers.

The young filmmakers turned the camera towards their own lives. They filmed their homes, families, friends and everyday experiences, in Ukraine and in the new countries where some of them now live.

The result is a collection of very personal documentary stories about growing up, leaving home, identity and finding a sense of belonging.

The programme will be presented by director Svitlana Pohasiy, documentary filmmaker and founder of Kids Movie Fest, followed by a conversation with the audience.
