We Won't Grow Old Together (Nous ne vieillirons pas ensemble)

In May the Püha Sõprus Sundays in Kino Sõprus are dedicated to the gems of the Cannes Film Festival as May is the month of Cannes. 

The distilled quintessence of every impossible relationship that you’ve ever been in, Pialat’s exorcism of a film follows the noisy break-ups and make-ups of couple Marlène Jobert and her bearish, boorish married lover Jean Yanne, in an incredibly unflattering film à clef self-portrait. Pialat’s magnificent deployment of car interiors conveys the claustrophobia of a failing relationship, but his genius lies in generating a sense of tragedy around the inevitable. This screening is supported by the French Institute of Tallinn.
