The creatures, considered a threat by many, are sent to specialised centre in an attempt to stop their mutations from progressing and to control their apparent violent tendencies. When a convoy bringing hybrids to a new facility crash in a forest, paranoia spreads in the local community as the surviving creatures scatter into the wild. François and his 16-year-old son Emile embark on a desperate search for his missing wife Lena who disappeared after the crash.
As François clings to the family’s past, he progressively loses his grip on Emile, who has started to notice transformations in his own body, leaving his fate increasingly uncertain. But as he secretly bonds with creatures he met in the forest, Emile opens his eyes to their humanity, leaving him and his father forever changed as the authorities close in.
What is the special program “Euroopa Filmikuu”?
In cooperation with the European Film Academy, the European Film Month will take place from November 1st to December 7th at cinema Sõprus.
During six weeks, we will bring to the audience more than 30 films from contemporary European cinema classics. The focus of the program selection is the strong European auteur cinema of the last decades - Ruben Östlund, Paolo Sorrentino, Aki Kaurismäki, Paul Verhoeven, Yorgos Lanthimos, Pedro Almodóvar and Lars von Trier are just a few names in the program.
Signature directors have always been the strength of Sõprus cinema, and through these names we highlight dignified, versatile and extremely colorful European cinema in the cinema.
The screenings of the European Film Month will take place in Sõprus Kai Hall, Noblessner.
A special ticket price of 5 euros applies to the sessions held within the program.
