On December 19th, The Kyiv Independent will present a new documentary, “Can You Hear Me? The Invisible Battles of Ukrainian Military Medics”. The film screening in Tallinn will take place at Cinema Kinosoprus. Start at 19:45.

The film’s authors Francis Farrell and Olena Zashko followed a group of Ukrainian military medics as they journeyed from the heat of battle in war-torn Ukraine to the serene forests of Sweden for a short mental health retreat. As they find themselves in a peaceful, quiet environment in Sweden for the first time since 2022, the medics have a chance to process the accumulated trauma, opening up about losing brothers-in-arms, surviving Russian captivity, and the inescapable feeling of guilt for not being able to save some of the soldiers they treated.

The film will be screened in Ukrainian with English subtitles, followed by a discussion with the co-authors of the film. The film’s premiere will be held in partnership with Repower Charitable Organisation, The Swedish Embassy in Tallinn and The 69th Sniffing Brigade
