In 1950s in the small and quiet village of Villar del Río nothing ever happens. However, the same day that folk singer Carmen Vargas and her representative arrive, the mayor (Pepe Isbert) receives the news of the impending visit of a Marshall Plan committee (American economic project for the reconstruction of Europe). The news causes a stir among the people, who are preparing to offer the Americans a very special welcome.
