In 1968–1984, Vaino Vahing kept a diary about real events and persons in his own subjective interpretation. It reflects the cultural life of Tartu, love affairs, bohemian parties and intellectual quests of the time. Vahing was interested in borderline situations, crossing the borders. When love is the greatest torment, will art or play save you? A dramatic documentary about author Vaino Vahing. We are looking at a creator who has made disharmony his source of inspiration, who experiences “the greatest torment in love”. The red line in the diary of Vahing is sacrificing life for art. Is this possible at all or do we still have to try to love first?

Käesoleval Sõpruse 70ndal juubeliaastal tõstame aukohale Eesti filmikunsti ja avalöögi annab aprillis Rainer Sarneti mini-retrospektiiv.
Filmirežissöör Rainer Sarnet on üks omanäolisemaid uue aja filmirežissööre Eestis ja tema värvikal loomingul on oluline koht kodumaises filmiloos. 16.-20. aprillil toimuv retrospektiiv toob Sõpruse ekraanile Sarneti täispikad mängufilmid, millest esimest, 2011 aastal valminud filmi “Idioot” näitame 35 mm filmilindilt. Publiku ette jõuavad ka auhinnatud “November” ja “Nähtamatu võitlus”, mis on žanriliselt imetabased ning väga eripalgelised. Lisaks tuleb näitamisele tema vaatemängiline dokumentaal “Vaino Vahingu päevaraamat”. Retrospektiivi lõppakordiks on duubellinastus. Esmalt on ekraanil lühifilm “Merehaigus”, mida Sarnet peab üheks oma parimaks tööks. Sellele järgneb režissööri enda poolt välja valitud, üks tema lemmikfilmidest, Jim Jarmuschi “Dead man” (“Surnud mees” 1995). “See on film, mida ma ehk kõige rohkem kordi olen vaadanud ja vaataksin veelgi. Esiteks seal on nii hea muusika, et seda võib lihtsalt juba sellepärast pehmes toolis kaifida. Teiseks saavad seal läbi nägemusliku müstilise poeesia kokku valge mees William Blake ja indiaanlane Nobody ja kolmandaks on aeg vaadata Ameerikat natuke teise pilguga,” ütleb Rainer Sarnet, kes teeb linastusele sissejuhatuse ja räägib mõne sõna päris William Blake´ist.
